Carter Rice Building

The Silver Bullet

This building was built shortly after the silver crash of 1983 a.k.a. The Panic of 1983. Who could have too much silver? The late 18th century, that’s who! The architectural style is called Renaissance Revival. The word ‘”renaissance” means rebirth in french. So, this translates to rebirth revival. Yes, these words mean the same thing, but that just emphasizes the optimism and determination these new business owners had at the time! Carter, Rice & Company was one of these go-getter businesses!
