Wells Fargo Building

Finger on the trigger…

Dr. O. D. Case was a medical doctor who decided to leave the world of medicine after being forced to treat a patient at gunpoint. He decided to give the banking industry a go, but unfortunately his streak of bad luck wasn’t over. He went bankrupt. He sold his business to Ben Holladay, who became known as the “stagecoach king.” Holladay bought the building for $700,000 and renamed it Holladay Overland Mail & Express Company. Guns come into the picture again when oftentimes the stagecoaches would return perforated with bullet holes. Holladay sensed the decline of the stagecoach so decided to sell his company to Wells Fargo for $1,500,000 in cash and $300,000 in company stock.
